Floresville Hike & Bike Trail Floresville, TX

Client: City of Floresville

Project Team: Pape-Dawson Engineers

This shared-use hike and bike trail in Floresville, Texas is part of the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail. The existing unimproved trail runs along the former San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. Established during the Spanish colonial era, the old trade route traversed 2,580 miles starting in Mexico and winding through Texas to its ending point in northwestern Louisiana. Tying back to the history of the trail with local materials, educational signage, and community input will be an integral part of designing this project. The project will include a 12’ concrete trail, trailhead plaza designs, wayfinding signage, handicap accessibility ramps, pedestrian light poles, trail crossing signage, seating opportunities and beautification with shade trees along the route.
